Rev. Larry Turner was born and raised in Austin, Texas. He accepted Christ at the early age of fourteen. He served at David Chapel Missionary Baptist Church under the late Senior Pastor, Dr. James E. Obey. After moving to Waco in 1996, he joined the Pleasant Olive Missionary Baptist Church where Rev. Monty E. Francis was pastor. At Pleasant Olive he accepted his calling to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ and served as an Associate Minister for twelve years.

Turner was endorsed as a Chaplain by the Chaplaincy Endorsement Council of the Baptist General Convention of Texas. He has been preaching the Gospel for 17 years. His personal mission, as well as the jail ministry’s mission, is to “Demonstrate God’s love so that others can find TRUE FREEDOM in Jesus Christ.”

The jail ministry has been a blessing to many and has helped to win souls for Christ. He is the founder of Larry Turner Ministries, established in 2021. The mission statement for this ministry is “To extend God’s grace so that captives can be set free, and to revive and to restore through the preaching and teaching of Jesus Christ.”
